Anamalai Tiger Reserve (ATR)

Valparai is sourended by The Anamalai Tiger Reserve sanctuary in Tamil Nadu, lies in the Western Ghats south of the Palghat Gap, better known as Anaimalais (Mountain of Elephants). With an core area of 958 sq.Kms. it is rich in flora and fauna. This protected area constitutes the most important watershed for the agricultural economy and power supply.

The best time to visit would be between October and March when the weather is chill and pleasant. During April and May the weather is sunny though not heaty is ideal for outdoor photography. June to August is rainy season, and one can enjoy a hot cup of coffee looking at the rain drops glistening on the beautiful green tea plantations from the room.
